RCA RTD615i DVD Home Theater System with Dock for iPod Review

I wanted to get my dad a home theater system for his 60th birthday. I’m a college student who’s always strapped for cash, you know how it is. So I needed something affordable but still of good quality. Also something basic; my dad’s over the hill and doesn’t need another complicated device around the house. It’s all about the basic functionalities and this home theater really delivered.

My Choice – RCA RTD615i – You Can’t Beat The Price!

I was browsing through home theater systems online and happened across this one. What first got my attention was the price, of course. It was considerably cheaper than other home systems I’ve seen. With such a low price, I had to dig deeper with the quality of it. They say that the RCA RTD615i has all the basic features one would expect from a home theater system. It provides audibly crisp and clear sound. No muffled voices or white noise. It has all the It’s a 600 watt powered system with Dolby digital 5.1 surround sound. It comes with a DVD player, iPod dock and an digital stereo tuner. It’s compatible with any sort of DVD or CD.

So far it sounded good and compared to everything else, it was one of the better ones that fit within my budget. So I decided to go ahead with the purchase. Anyways, if I wasn’t pleased with it, I always had the option of returning it. The package arrived at my apartment a week before my father’s big birthday celebration. This gave me plenty of time to check out the home theater system for myself. I wanted to actually open it and set it up first in my own apartment. Give it tests run sort of speak, before I hand it over to its rightful owner.

The Setup Was EASY

The set up was pretty easy and very straightforward. I think it would really be something my dad could put together by himself. But my father’s actually pretty handy, just not as technical as some. Once I got the system all set up, I went ahead and popped in one of my favorite DVDs so I could check out the sound. It was unbelievable. Just like the reviews had said, very clear and very loud. You don’t miss a beat. It really enhances the overall movie experience and you feel like you’re in an actual movie theater, minus the crowd of people and sticky seats. I also like the fact that it comes with the iPod deck. Believe it or not, my dad actually does have an iPod. He likes to keep his favorite tunes from the 60s and 70s all in one place for easy access. This feature would really work out well for him. I decided to go ahead and keep the system to give to my dad.
