RCA RTD3133H DVD Home Theater System Review

I recently purchased a brand new HDTV and needed a home theater system that would compliment it. I wasn’t looking for anything too over the top, especially since my apartment is a studio and I don’t have much room to accommodate the more massive systems. I saw this version of the RCA a couple months back and it was the perfect size for my space. The RCA RTD3133H came with five satellites, a subwoofer and a DVD player. I purchased this system for around $100. The price wasn’t bad for a standard system. And compared to other brands, it seemed to be the best deal.

The Setup

Once my RCA RTD3133H home theater arrived, I set it up right away. It was really quick and easy and I got the whole thing ready to go in just a matter of minutes. If you’re not very gadget savvy, then this system may suit you well. It’s a very basic home theater system but nonetheless sufficient. The RCA RTD3133H comes with a 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound which is the very reason why I bought it. The sound is great and the bass if very clean sounding. All you get is a nice, smooth continuous sound from the speakers. Since my apartment is a studio, the surround sound is even more amplified. I placed the speakers on all the corners of my studio and the fifth one right in the middle. It’s really great and makes watching movies, especially action, much better.

In addition to DVD playback, I can also plug in other media outlets such as my iPod into the system and it will play it. It’s really an upgrade from my stereo; you can’t get sound this clear any other way. Now I can play music for my entire apartment complex to hear, although I don’t think that would sit too well with the landlord. My only gripe about the RCA home theater is that it doesn’t play all blu-ray discs sufficiently. Fortunately I still have a ton of DVDs and my blue-ray discs also come with DVDs. But if you’re mainly a blue-ray type of person, then this system is not for you. I would recommend something with more features and fully compatible with blu-ray discs.

RCA RTD3133H Review Conclusion

Overall, I’m pretty pleased with this purchase. It pretty much did everything I expected a home theater system to do, which is turn my home into a theater with awesome surround sound. It was a great value for the price and delivered to the best of its abilities. I’ve had this system for more than a month now and I haven’t experienced any kind of malfunction or glitch. I hope it stays that way for a while. Until then, I will continue to enjoy my movies with the superb audio that the RCA home theater system provides me with. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to enhance they’re movie experience with a basic home theater system.
